🎉 More Ways To Shine

Eight more talents students send us the most — and one big category for everything else.

🎤

Singing

Did you know?

Long before written language, oral traditions and folk songs were how history, values and stories were passed down through generations.

Why it helps

Strengthens breath control, memory and listening skills, and singing regularly is linked to lower stress and better focus.

✍️

Poetry

Did you know?

Some of the earliest surviving literature in the world — like the Rigveda and the Epic of Gilgamesh — was written entirely in verse.

Why it helps

Sharpens vocabulary and emotional expression, and helps you say more with fewer, better-chosen words — useful in every subject, not just language.

📖

Writing

Did you know?

The first novel widely credited as such, "The Tale of Genji," was written over a thousand years ago by Murasaki Shikibu in 11th-century Japan.

Why it helps

Builds structured thinking and clarity — the same skill you'll lean on for essays, applications and, later, every workplace email you'll ever send.

🎨

Painting & Sketching

Did you know?

The Ajanta and Ellora cave paintings in Maharashtra, some over 1,500 years old, are still studied today as masterpieces of composition and colour.

Why it helps

Trains observation and patience, and gives you a way to express ideas that don't always fit into words — a skill that spills over into design and problem-solving.

🎸

Music & Instruments

Did you know?

The tabla, one of India's most iconic percussion instruments, dates back over 400 years and is still central to classical, folk and film music.

Why it helps

Playing an instrument strengthens memory and pattern recognition, and studies consistently link early music training to stronger maths performance.

🎭

Acting & Drama

Did you know?

Sanskrit drama traditions like the Natyashastra, compiled over 2,000 years ago, laid down some of the world's earliest recorded rules for stage performance.

Why it helps

Builds empathy by asking you to step into someone else's shoes, and sharpens the same public-speaking confidence that helps in interviews and presentations.

📸

Photography

Did you know?

The oldest surviving photograph, taken by Nicéphore Niépce in 1826, needed over 8 hours of exposure to capture a single, blurry rooftop view.

Why it helps

Sharpens attention to detail and framing, and teaches you to notice things — light, timing, composition — that most people walk straight past.

🗣️

Public Speaking & Debate

Did you know?

Formal debate societies date back to ancient Greece, where public argument was treated as a civic skill every citizen was expected to practise.

Why it helps

Builds the ability to think on your feet and structure an argument clearly — skills that carry directly into exams, interviews and leadership roles.
